Artist Statement: 

Platonic love is under-represented in the media. Too often we see the importance of romantic love displayed, while platonic love is glossed over. We created this film to highlight its importance and act as a film not too commonly seen in its genre. The idea we had was to create the counter-hegemonic lens of the film within a hegemonic situation: A boy-girl duo in a high school setting. We hoped that it would open people’s eyes to the notion that not every instance in the aforementioned trope needs to end in a romantic, heterosexual relationship. In every film like this, the boy gets the girl, and we don’t want to play into that idea; we feel it isn’t as accurate or objective as Hollywood makes it out to be. The three of us grew up on movies propagating the heterosexual trope, and we wanted to make a work that counters that.
