I really enjoyed your screenplay! You did such a good job setting the scene and giving appropriate background about the characters. From that point on, with that interaction with the teacher, how did the rest of the year look? Was the environment more comfortable? Did more students participate, and/ or actively engage in class?
I like how you captured this small but memorable experience in your class because I can tell that this teacher probably meant a lot to you or has shaped your learning in a meaningful way. I liked the way you got the students’ dreaded feelings of a socratic seminar down along with your teacher’s clear passion and excitement for teaching. very sweet
You did a great job or capturing the personalities of you, the teacher and your Tyler. I really liked and could put myself into the scene. This led me to all sorts of wonderings about your and your identity development and I am now dying to read your artists statement.

I wrote my screenplay about an experience I had in my senior year AP literature class. It was the first moment in my academic career where I had felt supported to establish my own academic opinions and felt confident in my ability to try my best at something I didn’t understand. This moment is centered around an English discussion where I didn’t understand the concept of the discussion. After getting called on, I had shown I thought I could not contribute. After being told all I had to do was try, I did just that; I tried to answer the question, and in doing so I cemented a confidence in myself I had not had prior. I feel this moment is a defining moment in my academic career because despite being a very small moment, it has left a lasting impact on me and is one of the things I remember most from high school. I was given the agency to construct myself at this moment. I believe that the ability to construct oneself is one of the most important things for a person to have, and contributes to my life to this day.
i really appreciate that I can hear your voice in this story. It makes it extremely fun to read as well as easy to relate to! In the future I would urge you to go more in depth! Some things may seem obvious to you, but could provide another perspective for your audience. Thank you for sharing!
