Empress! I’m so glad that you chose this film (i know how passionate you were about it)! I appreciated how you were able to portray the expectations of the main character as a strong black woman, and how her past informs the ways in which she combats social norms. I will say that it was really hard to hear your audio. For your final movie, i urge you to play with audio settings a little and find a good balance if you plan to use movie clips. But overall, i enjoyed what you had to say.
Empress, I appreciated the ways that you looked at the film and surfaced the way the film centered on a woman whose character was not defined by their romantic male character. Unfortunately, the loud from the film in the first part prevented my ability to hear your voiceover. If you can please try to correct that so I can go back and listen to the analysis at the beginning. I also wonder about the selection of the scenes. I think the ending scene where the lead character is hanging up links tightly with what you are saying in the voiceovers. I wonder about the connection in the other sections, but again, I could not really hear it.
