  1. I’m a big fan of this show so was interested to see an analysis of it. I definitely agree that it is counter-hegemonic in some ways yet remains hegemonic in terms of diversity as you pointed out. I also think that it some ways the show teeters on romanticizing taboo topics such as sexually abuse and mental health.

  2. I have never seen this show, but I have always been interested in seeing it! I really liked how you incorporated scenes to explain the shows summary and appreciated how in your analysis you describe what the show focuses on as well as what was missing.

  3. I had never seen this show before but you did a nice job of summarizing the series! I liked how you addressed both what was missing and what was covered. I think a lot of the times mental health is not discussed for men and focusing on this in your vlog was very important!

  4. Hi Mariah,

I found your analysis to be both detailed and succinct. I think it would be interesting to see a show like this with a more diverse cast as you mentioned. I have not watched the show before but I found your quick summary of the characters very helpful to get a better picture of who they are. I love shows that are raw and can be realistic because in a way it is comforting to see others (actors/characters) go through something similar to you, a friend, loved one, etc. If you like Normal People you may like Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
