  1. I loved the moment of realization captured in this. So many High Schools pile on so much pressure as to which school you go to and as time goes on I realize that it really doesn’t matter.

  2. I think you capture your emotions and the tension in the scene very well, and this is especially heightened because the audience is able to see your thoughts in the moment. As someone who also went to a high school that cared about grades and prestige more than anything else, I was able to really relate to your story. You were also able to capture the idea of expressive individualism very well, and emphasized that it is perfectly acceptable to break free from the constraints of a toxic environment. At the beginning of your story, you make it seem as if your mom would be disappointed in you but it later seems that she is very supportive. Is this intentional? Overall, a great job!

  3. This is a great reminder of ‘you can’t change what you don’t acknowledge’. The mindset you talked about, I’ve noticed, is very common with students who took higher-level classes such as high honors or AP. Glad you were able to notice the toxicity and break free.

  5. I really enjoyed your story and could relate in every way! I really liked how you expressed each emotion you were having during this conversation with your mom. I also had this realization about how people look at others college choices as well. I’m glad that you were able to leave the toxicity of your high school and come to college you wanted to go to because you liked it and not because of what others thought.
