Sophia, thanks for introducing me to this film. I like how you break this down. i think the your analysis makes me think of the James Baldwin quote, “We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist.” It is clear that the makers want to disrupt what they consider the “cancel culture” in our society and foster a sense of common human connection. That said, I don’t think it is necessarily a bad model to consider how to foster spaces where people from different backgrounds and beliefs are navigating those differences and respecting each others humanity. I wonder how this idea could be made better?
